Keith and Kristyn Getty
Muscians and Writers
Keith and Kristyn Getty have been writing hymns for more than a decade, bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary, and creating what is described as singable theology. Their songs, many co-written with Stuart Townend, have pioneered a new generation of modern hymns.
The renowned Getty/Townend hymn, “In Christ Alone,” has remained the most popular song for congregations throughout the UK for six years, among Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI’s) top ten in North America.
Under the Getty Music label, Keith and Kristyn have recorded two Dove-nominated albums: “In Christ Alone” (2007) and “Awaken the Dawn” (2009). “Joy-An Irish Christmas” (2011), dedicated to their daughter, Eliza Joy, is a collaboration with luminaries from the world of Irish music. Its broad appeal led to a number one radio single, television appearances and specials, and an annual Christmas concert tour in the USA. Additionally, Getty Music has initiated a number of choral works based on each of these projects. Keith’s and Kristyn’s newest recordings comprise an album entitled “Hymns for the Christian Life” (October 2012).
The project will feature new sounds, musicians and writers they have come to know since moving to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2010. Their concert tour based on their new project, “Hymns for the Christian Life”, began with sold-out concert hall appearances in June 2012 on the “Northern Celtic Tour” in the United Kingdom and will continue on with a tour in the USA. The tour will culminate with a “Southern Celtic Tour” that has been planned for autumn 2013.
Keith and Kristyn divide their time between Northern Ireland and their home in Nashville where they write, tour and oversee the work of Getty Music.
