Blended and Blessed Summit on Stepfamily Ministry 2014

About the event:

Join hundreds of pastors, lay leaders, ministry leaders, and anyone interesting in starting a blended family ministry for the 2nd annual Blended and Blessed Summit on Stepfamily Ministry on October 2nd and 3rd in Washington D.C. This conference is for those interested in stepfamily ministry to come and network, discuss, and learn how to raise awareness as well as minister to families in their own communities. Our goal is to advance the cause of stepfamily ministry so that thousands of local churches become redemption centers for blended families. We want to prevent redivorce, strengthen stepfamilies, and break the generational cycle of divorce.

Greg Smalley

Greg Smalley

Dr. Greg Smalley serves as the vice president of Family Ministries at Focus on the Family. In this role, he develops and oversees initiatives that prepare individuals for marriage, strengthen and nurture existing marriages and help couples in marital crises. He also oversees Focus' parenting initiatives that equip mothers and fathers with biblical principles and counsel for raising healthy, resilient children.

Smalley knew early in his career that he wanted to be more hands-on in helping couples. After receiving his doctorate at the Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University in Southern California and a counseling degree from Denver Seminary, he and his wife, Erin, led intensive marriage seminars around the world and trained pastors, professionals and lay leaders on how to effectively work with married and engaged couples.

Marilyn Meberg

Marilyn Meberg

At first glance, you might think Marilyn was a serious, wise, well-educated counselor. (And you'd be right!) But she's also prone to break into giggles at the slightest provocation and tell stories you'll still be laughing over years from now. With the weight of not one, but two Masters' degrees (in English and psychology) behind her, Marilyn tackles life's most difficult subjects with aplomb.

For the past 30 years her biblically based brand of common sense and good humor has been cherished by audiences across the continent. In addition to speaking and counseling, she continues to love teaching (she spent 10 years in the English department at Biola University). Marilyn claims California as home but has been on what she calls an "extended visit" to Texas since 2005.
