Dennis Rainey: At least she didn't put chocolate first! I think these days we casually throw around that word "commitment" way too much. Especially within the context of marriage. As somebody's said, "It's easier to get out of marriage today than it is to get out of the Book of the Month Club!" What kind of commitment is that, anyway?!
Still, over the past decade I've interviewed dozens of couples who've lived out true commitment to their spouses. A wife whose husband is completely paralyzed from Lou Gherigh's disease, a husband whose wife lives in a mental twilight called Alzheimer's, a wife whose husband fooled her for years about his struggle with pornography and sexual addictions, ... all continuing to love and care for their spouses even when the world told them it was impossible.
One final thought. We need to be careful how we talk about commitment. And when we do, we need to live it out!
