Dennis Rainey: Men, are you truly sacrificing for your wife? It's easy to compare ourselves with other men and think we're doing pretty good. But the apostle Paul gave us a very high standard when he said, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her."
A great lover knows how to give up his desires in order to love his wife. Loving our wives may mean setting aside some things we value, such as a golf game, a day off, or a fishing trip.
It may mean helping with the children, meals and household chores, especially for men whose wives work outside the home. It may mean giving her time to pray, to exercise or visit friends.
One final thought. It's easy for men to get busy and lose sight of our wives' needs. Take a moment tonight to discover the way you can most effectively show her sacrificial love.
