Dennis Rainey: What will you do when you retire?
Guest: Actually, I don't know that I will retire. My retirement planning is to be able to provide income to give me flexibility to do things. Maybe things I've never gotten to. Whether its travel or even doing missions trips or things like that.
Dennis Rainey: There is a woman in my church named Kitty. As the last of her children grew up, and her nest emptied, she decided to minister to more people. That was 30 years ago. One of her latest personal ministry projects is to teach groups of married women how to host teas for single moms.
People like Kitty make me very excited about the potential of ministry during the final years of a believer's life. Those who are in their "sunset" years, have a great opportunity. They can exert positive spiritual, and emotional influence on others, including their own children and grandchildren. With acts of kindness and encouraging words, older people can influence the course of their family's future.
One final thought. As you get older, don't fade into the sunset. Stay involved in the lives of your family and your church. You have so much to offer those you love.
I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real Family Life.
