Dennis Rainey: What could you do to offer friendship and support to a military family?

Guest: Well, I think one of the things that would be difficult for a millitary family is the separation. There may not be those around them who would provide that community. If we knew about those who had family members who had deployed, for us to come around them, love them, support them would be very, very helpful and important.[ Read Full Transcript ]

Dennis Rainey: Patty, a military wife and mother of five was trying hard to keep their family’s finances from falling apart. She took on two jobs and ran up huge credit card bills just for basic necessities. One night while distraught and driving home from work, Patty decided to drive off the side of the road and find escape from her stress at its gravely bottom.

Just then, the sounds of the car radio cut into her conscious mind. It was a “FamilyLife Today” broadcast, targeted specifically at the needs and concerns of military wives. Patty felt like she was hearing her life being described on the air—yet wrapped in the big arms of God. It was all she needed to get through the night.

One final thought. Why not ask God to lead your family to a military wife who’s doing her best to go it alone. She could really benefit from your voice of comfort and companionship.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real FamilyLife from my devotional "Moments With You."
