Dennis Rainey: Do you know what role a husband and a wife are to play in marriage?

Guest: The woman is supposed to be submissive to her husband because that's impossible for her to do in most cases. The man is to love his wife which is also impossible, and so, we all need Jesus to help us do it.

Dennis Rainey: She's right. This week we're looking at 8 Biblical concepts related to marriage. We've learned that a man and a woman reflect the image of God. That one woman and one man are to be married for life. That men and women are equal in value. And, that a husband and wife are to multiply a Godly Legacy. Today, we'll look at the fifth and sixth concepts.

Number 5. A husband and wife have been given divinely prescribed roles in marriage. One of the major reason marriages fragment and fall apart is confusion about the role of a husband and a wife.

The number six concept: the husband is the head of the wife. Our goal in loving our wives should be to love her as Christ loved and led the church. He loved the church enough to die for her.

One final thought. I'd like to suggest that both of you read what the scriptures have to say about roles in marriage. Discuss how you are matching up to God's design.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real Family Life.
