Dennis Rainey: That reminds me of a trip our family once took to Yosemite National Park. As we walked among the giant Sequoia trees, we found that one was particularly enormous. A sign at its base read: "The Faithful Couple."

A park ranger explained that this was actually two trees that sprouted about fifteen feet apart. After 800 years, their trunks had grown close enough to touch, and they began to fuse together.

That's a perfect symbol of a godly marriage. As a husband and wife grow upward in their relationship with God, they grow closer to one another. They find strength in their oneness, and can stand up to the storms that come their way.

One final thought. Tonight, why don't you read the Bible and pray with your mate. Make it a daily habit. As you both look upwards toward God, you'll find yourselves moving toward one another as well.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real FamilyLife.
