Dennis Rainey: Sometimes we can personally benefit from what seems like a difficult challenge. The story is told of See Ling, the Empress of China and her problem with her mulberry trees. She discovered that a small, drab moth was laying eggs on the trees. Worms would hatch and damage the leaves by eating them and then spinning cocoons.

Wondering if she could destroy the cocoons, she dropped one of them into a pot of boiling water. To her surprise, it began to unwind, revealing a half mile of glittering, silvery thread. In the process of solving a problem, the Empress had discovered silk.

One final thought. The problems a husband and wife experience can eat away at the joy of their relationship. But a couple that continues to stay committed and work through the struggles can discover something special - the beauty of unconditional acceptance.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real FamilyLife.
