If you feel like you're working on your doctoral dissertation for a PhD in Pain from Adversity University, remember that our difficulties can bring perspective. Solomon said it well in the book of Ecclesiastes: "Prosperity is not necessarily good, and adversity is not necessarily bad." Pain has a way of reducing our choices: Can God be trusted?
One final thought. As parents we can try to shelter our children from as much adversity as we possibly can. This may take the form of making them as physically comfortable as we possibly can. We need to give our children a legacy of how to finish your classwork at the Adversity University.
