Dennis Rainey: Men, when's the last time you did something romantic like that for your mate? Many couples have grown so apathetic towards one another that romance is like a forgotten memory.
I have a friend who once told me about a husband who decided to romance his wife after those romantic fires had died down. When he showed up with candy and flowers for her, she burst into tears. She said, "This has been the worst day. Our son received a terrible report card, Mom was admitted to the hospital, the roast burned, the washing machine broke, and now to top it all off, you come home drunk!"
One final thought. If apathy is a characteristic of your relationship with your spouse, what could you do to surprise them this week? If you're truly committed to making your marriage last for a lifetime, you need to make a choice to keep romance alive in your marriage.
