Guest: Some of the things that my husband does ...sometimes he actually does a dinner. He also sometimes along with that might have a special gift or he writes love notes and poetry to me. He does so many things romantically all the time.[ Read Full Transcript ]

Dennis Rainey: How long has it been since you've done something like that for your spouse?

I know a guy who planned a scavenger hunt for his wife. About two weeks before they were to leave on a romantic getaway to New England, he scattered little hints about the house.

One the day before they were to leave, she took all the clues and began to piece them together. They formed a map of their destination. Then the husband told her what was happening, and she had just enough time to pack. They took off and spent their wedding anniversary together. It was seven full days of peace, quiet and, yes, romance.

One final thought. When you and your spouse were courting, do you remember how creative and how fun your dates were? You may need to get those same creative juices flowing and renew the romance in your marriage.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real, romantic, FamilyLife.
