Guest: I need my husband to provide security, and compassion, and to just show me that he cares and loves me.[ Read Full Transcript ]

Dennis Rainey: I hope he's taking notes, because she's giving him her romance recipe right there!

Did you hear about the husband who was a big basketball fan? One day, his wife cuddled up next to him on the couch, put her arms around him, and asked, “Sweetheart, do you love me more than basketball?” Puzzled, the guy thought about it for a moment, then said, “College or NBA?”

Guys, take a hint: joking with your wife like this won't score you ANY points!

Barbara and I recently wrote a book called “Rekindling the Romance,” and in it we describe the language of romance as sacrifice. That’s right. Not sex, not flowers and cards, but sacrifice.

One final thought. If you want to speak romance to your husband or wife, it’s may mean giving up an all-consuming, passionate pursuit of a hobby, a job, or (yes), even basketball.

I’m Dennis Rainey, and that’s Real, Sacrificially Romantic FamilyLife.
