Dennis Rainey: I'm not surprised that she likes it when her husband leads her family spiritually. I've come to a conclusion, based on many years of counseling couples. I think a woman's number one romantic need is to be spiritually ministered to by her husband. More than candies or flowers, she needs a man who cares about the well - being of her very soul.

A husband can be a spiritual leader by praying with his wife daily. He can put his arms around her and say, “I want to ask God to bless you. I want to take your needs before God. And I’m going to pray for you throughout this day.” He takes the lead in sharing Scripture and eagerly initiating conversation on spiritual issues.

One final thought. Men, why don't you do something romantic tonight? Get the kids in bed and turn the lights down low. Get into bed, and then... pray with your wife. She'll appreciate your courageous leadership.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real FamilyLife.
