Dennis Rainey: Whew. Anytime there's more work to be done than we have time or money or energy to do it in, we can sure be tempted to dispair.
In the New Testament, Jesus saw a HUGE need. He was moved with compassion when He saw that the multitudes were "weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd." But, rather than giving up, Jesus felt compassion on people and He challenged His followers, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
Now I want you to notice two things that Jesus did. First of all, He pointed out that the harvest was ripe. And secondly, He commanded us to pray that there would workers to go into the harvest.
One final thought. As Christians, we need to be about the harvest. Will you come, drop your nets, and join in that harvest? The task may seem overwhelming at times, but we work for the Lord of the harvest. And it all starts at home...in MY home, and in YOUR home.
