Dennis Rainey: Does it feel like the pains of the past just won't go away?
Guest: BL:Listen to this woman as she remembers having an abortion.
“Another thing that I remember is when the procedure was over, both my boyfriend and I were weeping. And I remember that feeling of ‘If it's not wrong, why would there be tears? Why would there be sadness?’ I could not figure out what to do with that guilt and shame that followed.”[ Read Full Transcript ]
Dennis Rainey: You know, as I heard this woman's story...my heart broke. I couldn’t imagine being the parent of a 17-year-old daughter who had slipped out of the house one afternoon, driven across town, and ended a human life. Some studies suggest that one out of every three church-going women between the ages of 15 and 50 has had an abortion. And every day she's faced with pain and emptiness. But there's hope. Hebrews 4:16 says we can "draw near with confidence to the throne of grace". What a comfort that is, knowing we can go directly to God with the hurts of our past.
One final thought. Perhaps you’ve done something in the past that still causes you to feel guilt and shame. If so, I urge you to bring it out of hiding, if you haven’t already. Grace and forgiveness is found in Jesus Christ.
