Dennis Rainey: Thanksgiving is a great day to build meaningful family traditions.

Guest: We always went to my aunt and uncle's outside of Milwaukee. And we ate and watched football games and went on walks and just had a good time talking. We did that at least twenty years. I look back on that now and it's a priceless memory.[ Read Full Transcript ]

Dennis Rainey: Our family has also developed priceless Thanksgiving memories as well, including the "Annual Rainey Thanksgiving Brunch," which, of course means one thing: Company French Toast. We start preparing the special recipe the night before. Then, on Thanksgiving Day, we stick it in the oven and its aroma fills the house. Everybody dresses up for the meal, and our children write out cards to mark everybody's place at the table.

Then, we spend some time reading about the Pilgrims and talk about what we're thankful for.

One final thought. Yearly traditions can draw your family closer together and teach important lessons. My purpose is not to persuade you to eat more French toast or to get your family to dress up for dinner, but I do hope to encourage you: Make tomorrow's Thanksgiving holiday unique and meaningful for your family.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real FamilyLife.
