Leading HomeBuilders in Sunday School

Although the sessions generally run longer in a HomeBuilders study (90 minutes) than the typical Sunday school class (60 minutes), there are a couple of options for using this material in a class setting.

One option is to spend two classes on each session. This will give you time to cover all the material in a given session. Another is to concentrate your class time on the part of the HomeBuilders session called Blueprints. Blueprints is the heart of the study and is designed to run for one hour.

When using HomeBuilders in Sunday school, remember that the strength of the HomeBuilders experience is in the small-group interaction between couples. Split the class into smaller groups if necessary; we recommend groups of six to eight.

Also, remember that your role is facilitator, not teacher. Many Sunday school classes follow a lecture format, and use little small-group interaction. But HomeBuilders is built around the small-group discussion.  As leader of a HomeBuilders group, you should seek to guide your group to discover the truth rather than teaching it yourself.
