"Now this is a ministry that's DOING something for families!" This was Emmitt's reaction as he and Jane discussed their first FamilyLife conference experience in July 2000. Emmitt and Jane were impressed with the biblical, practical and relevant material from FamilyLife. Little did they know that they would be serving with FamilyLife 6 years later! "Looking back at that event, we see that God had planted a seed in our hearts for serving Him at FamilyLife, long before we were even aware!"

While Emmitt managed a Christian radio station, he began to sense the Lord directing him to use the passion he and Jane shared for strong marriages and families. Over time and with much prayer, the couple believed God was calling them to FamilyLife, but the idea of support raising was daunting. They wondered if they should even consider it because it seemed so intimidating. God used the passage of Genesis 22 to convict the couple's hearts. "Abraham was given the command to sacrifice Isaac - what an assignment! Surely Abraham had questions and perhaps wondered if God really knew what He was doing. Yet, Abraham obeyed. God didn't want Isaac as a sacrifice, He wanted Abraham's obedience. We felt that's what we needed to do - obey. God called us to FamilyLife, but we were letting fear of the unknown cloud what we knew He wanted us to do."

Emmitt serves in the FamilyLife Audio Group as the station relations representative. He keeps in contact with managers of radio stations that air the daily radio program "FamilyLife Today." His goal is to encourage and build solid relationships between the ministry and these radio station partners. Jane gives much of her time and energy fulfilling her roles as a wife and mother. She also is a new staff coach, encouraging and guiding couples through their initial support raising process.

Emmitt and Jane have seen the faithfulness of God in ways they would not have experienced had they not joined staff at FamilyLife. "The Lord has shown us through the support raising process that this is about Him doing His work through us - we just need to be available and obedient."
