What if my pastor cannot help us?

While we believe that God wants to use your pastor to guide you as you seek help and answers, we also realize that this may not be part of your pastor’s calling or ministry. Or he may not be able to handle all the counseling in your church. He may know of other pastors in your community who work with couples, don’t be afraid to ask him. If he cannot point you to some source of help or counseling, then ask God where you can look next.

FamilyLife offers lists of Christian counselors and conflict counselors who have agreed with our Family Manifesto. We provide this list for your use and information. Enter a search like this with prayer. Talk to godly friends about your needs and your search. Proverbs states that there is safety in many counselors (Proverbs 15:22). Even though you seek input from others, you will still need to spend time in prayer and ask the Lord to direct you in your search.
