We would have stopped at two children. Instead, we had the freedom for me to stay at home and homeschool our 4+ children for His glory! I would councel teens to think about Christian college first, and pray about it. God will lay on their hearts His plan, then they look for His provision. That may mean grants and scholarships, it may mean working 60-70 hrs. a week like I did. Just remember, our ways are not His ways. His say...Trust in Him, not go into debt in my name and expect I'll bail you out. In this economy, with people loosing their jobs and homes left and right, we need to stay FAR from the world's thinking and keep our Lord's name and reputation clean! Don't believe Satan's lies that you are going into debt for His name's sake. Don't we serve an all-powerful God! Trust Him and His Word!

While I agree that Christian school may be the better choice, going into debt to get there is still not what God wants. Debt is described in the Bible as being in shackles. Where God guides, he provides. If he wants you to go to a Christian college, he will provide the finances. Also, don't forget community college is not like going to a public school as a child. You can go full time from 8-2, 2 days a week. There is NO time to socialize and you get in and get out. I know, I did it. I had no debt leaving the community college, then went on to a state school. I had 3,500 debt when I graduated from college. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it took me 10 years to pay off. $50/month. On a teacher's salary, then a stay at home mom, it was tough. I can't imagine the debt if I went to Bob Jones (but I wasn't saved then to know about BJU). Then imagine husband AND wife with double debt. Christian school would have left me in the position to continue working and we would have stoppe

Christians must reject the status quo and send their kids to schools that will create whole and effective individuals that can change the world for Christ, even if it means taking on some debt. Because in the end, money is a vain, temporal thing that will not matter in eternity.

I am currently a student at Wheaton College and I know that I will be in debt for years to come in order to pay for my education. My parents did not at first see the value of college, so they in fact never really saved up for it. It was my decision to go to Wheaton rather than the local community college that changed my life forever. I know for a fact I would not be the same person that I am today if I would have chosen the less expensive state university over the expensive liberal arts school. Not that community college and state universities are a bad thing, but one must understand the purpose of those institutions: to educate a ID number in a trade or job of their choice that will enable them to be successful.

ess-oriented" society has lost the true purpose of education. Go back into history and discover who created universities and why. It was the Christians who sought to create whole and effective individuals that could serve God rather than be successful.

Frankly, I was very sad while listening to this broadcast. While I agree with Ron that debt is something a Christian should avoid at all costs, I feel that his entire perspective is flawed because it is rooted in the economy of the world rather than the economy of God. Ron asserted that a person would be better off attending community college due to its lower costs and equal chances of success. However, I would argue that Christian parents should first be worried about the intellectual development of their children rather than their chances of success. The truth is that every academic institution forms their students based on their own understanding of the world. To say that you are getting the same education at both a community college and an elite school is evidence of Ron's own bias and ignorance. Christians should be concerned with ensuring that their child is exposed to the things that will best contribute to their development as whole and effective individuals. However, our "succ
