Bryan Carter, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Senior Pastor of Concord Church, Dallas, TX

Bryan Carter is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of FamilyLife and senior pastor of Concord Church in Dallas, Texas, where he has served as pastor for fifteen years. Concord’s mission is, “People growing people by connecting them to their next step with Christ.” The church serves over 9,000 members with a commitment to disciple and train men, women, youth, children, and its community.

Carter is a passionate leader with a vision for inspiring people to grow to their full potential in Christ. Innovative, strategic, compassionate, and visionary are just a few words used by others to describe his character.

Bryan leads with a focus on discipling others. He desires to see men grow in their walk with Christ and has a passion for strengthening marriages by helping couples understand God’s plan for their relationships. Those desires came to life as he served as co-presenter for 33: The Series, a curriculum on authentic manhood published by Lifeway. He is also a featured expert for The Art of Marriage curriculum published by FamilyLife.

Carter is committed to serving the city of Dallas and beyond by working toward city transformation, building stronger families, and developing a better local economy. He pursues this by serving on both faith-based and corporate boards. His current service includes the boards of Frost Bank Dallas Advisory Board, Impact Dallas Capital, Leadership Network and Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) International. Bryan also serves as board chair for Harmony Community Development Corporation, an organization committed to improving the community of southern Dallas by strengthening families and revitalizing neighborhoods. He leads the African American Pastors Coalition, a fellowship of over sixty churches committed to serving and addressing key needs in the Dallas community and also co-leads Dallas Clergy, a fellowship of Dallas churches. His past board service includes: Mayor’s Task Force Against Domestic Violence, Impact Dallas Capital, Dallas Habitat for Humanity, Dallas ISD Education Foundation, and Mentoring Brother to Brother.

Carter earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education with an emphasis in Family Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. He also is a recipient of an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Dallas Baptist University.

Bryan is married to his college sweetheart, Stephanie, and has two daughters and one son.
