Marriage Intensives: Thousands of marriages, situations as complex and painful as yours, have been transformed with the help of professionals who understand where you are right now and care deeply about where you and your spouse wind up in the future. Marriage Intensives through the National Institute of Marriage are personalized, intimate programs for restoring individuals and rebuilding marriages. Our all-inclusive programs are more than couples counseling, more than a plan to stop divorce or a weekend session at a church. Marriage Intensives are new beginnings, even for husbands and wives who think all hope is lost.

A Unique Resort Environment:Customized programs take you away from distractions and routines and allow the two of you to escape to the tranquility of Sunset Inn in Branson, Missouri or WinShape Marriage Retreat Center in Rome, Georgia. The focused environment makes your complex situation feel simpler; enabling you to experience the serenity and space you need to focus on yourself … and on each other.

Association of Biblical Counselors
209 North Industrial Boulevard

Bedford, TX 76021

Find a Counselor

President: Jeremy Lelek Ph.D, LPC

Philosophy: ABC exists to encourage, equip, and empower people everywhere to live and counsel the Word, applying the gospel to the whole experience of life.

We are also committed to facilitating a deeper understanding of biblical counseling as well as identifying ideas, presuppositions, methods, and principles that have been adopted by the Christian community which merit further inquiry and debate with regards to biblical compatibility.

  • Encourage: ABC provides a fellowship of believers committed to life transformation through the Living Word.
  • Equip: ABC promotes training in biblical counseling and points to resources that deal biblically with all of the issues of life.
  • Empower: ABC provides excellent materials for growth in Christ and for use in effective biblical counseling.

The Biblical Counseling Network (BCN) is a ministry of the Association of Biblical Counselors.  Its purpose is to provide access to individuals and families around the world seeking counsel based upon distinctively biblical principles. Counselors found within the BCN either hold a state license in counseling or psychology, hold a certification in biblical counseling, possess an advanced education, or experience in biblical counseling.

Christian Counseling Education Foundation (CCEF)
Counseling education, counseling resources, seminars, courses

Membership: “All of our faculty adhere to the statement that the biblical counselor, by definition, is committed to the Old and New Testaments as the only authoritative rule of faith and practice. Both the faith and conduct of the biblical counselor, as well as his counseling theory and practice, are formed by the standards of Scripture.” (Doctrinal Statement)

Philosophy: “The mission of the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF) is to see hearts transformed as God applies his Word to the problems of life. God’s grace, God’s Word, and God’s people are what Christians need for personal change, spiritual growth, and help with the pressing problems of life. Sadly, many in the church look elsewhere for help. They don’t see how the Bible connects with their problems. Others think biblical counseling is nothing more than throwing a Bible verse at a problem – and they’ve seen that approach come up empty. CCEF leads a biblical counseling movement that teaches people how to explore the rich wisdom of Scripture and apply it to the complexities of human life.” (About Us)

Christian Care Network (CCN)

Network of Christian counselors with membership in the American Association of Christian Counselors

Membership: “The Christian Care Network (CCN), a division of AACC is a national referral network of community and church-based, licensed professional counseling providers…committed to providing biblical, theological, and psychological truth that ministers to the soul of a hurting person and helps them move to personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity. CCN members have demonstrated minimal requirements and competencies for clinical excellence and Biblical integration in Christ-centered care.” (Mission Statement, CCN Statement)

Philosophy: The CCN is committed “to promoting the advancement of Christian counseling and the integration of Christian theology with psychology, psychiatry, and mental health. The ultimate goal of Christian counseling is to help others move to personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity. Christian counselors do not presume that all clients want or will be receptive to explicit spiritual interventions in counseling. We obtain consent that honors client choice, receptivity to these practices, and the timing and manner in which these things are introduced: prayer for and with clients, Bible reading and reference, spiritual meditation, the use of biblical and religious imagery, assistance with spiritual formation and discipline, and other common spiritual practices.” (Statement of Faith, Consent for Biblical-Spiritual Practices in Counseling)

Caveat: Christians should carefully discuss attempts at “integration of Christian theology with psychology, psychiatry, and mental health.” For more on this, see David Powlison’s book, Seeing With New Eyes: Counseling and the Human Condition through the Lens of Scripture (Phillipsburg, NJ: P&R Publishing, 2003).
