Go out for dinner. What could make it pop? Bring her flowers. Pick a song to dance to in the park, sharing a pair of earbuds. Bring along something that reminds your spouse of one of your first dates.

Have a water or snowball fight. Not the right season? Use marshmallows or balled-up newspaper. Feel free to construct forts. Don’t let your kids have all the fun!

Look at your calendars and schedule a night for sex next week. Then help your spouse anticipate the encounter. Send a sexy text the day before: I’m dreaming up what we’ll do tomorrow night. Mention it the morning of the agreed upon day: “I’m planning to put the kids down early tonight. Wonder what we’ll do?”

Anticipate the excitement and plan for the connection.

Pray together about your marriage.  It’s an important thing, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Start by thanking God: What did He do well when He gave you each other? Ask God to help your love for each other continue to grow through the years ahead.

As you cool down, it’s time to reflect.

Read Song of Solomon 2:10,16:
“My beloved speaks and says to me:
‘Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away…’

My beloved is mine, and I am his;
he grazes among the lilies.”

Pray together, remember to stretch yourself this week for the sake of your spouse, and stay flexible with your growth:

Father, help us to make Your priorities ours. Show us how to pray together and how to invest wisely and generously in all the things we can’t see.
