Krystin and her husband, Hansel, were devastated. In the short span of three months, Krystin had experienced two miscarriages, and the couple was left wondering where God was in all of it.

“Looking back at those months, I would not want to go through all that again,” Hansel says. “But in hindsight, those trials drew us closer to God. We emerged stronger together, as a couple.”

One thing that helped was a gift from their mentors from church— the opportunity to attend one of FamilyLife’s Art of Marriage® retreats in Singapore. Art of Marriage is a two-day event driven by biblical content and practical applications that give couples a fresh perspective on married life as God designed it to be.

“We loved the time,” Krystin says. “Our experience was so positive that we immediately signed up to be part of a HomeBuilders group. This means every week, we intentionally set aside time for each other and building up our marriage together with other couples.”
With the grace to move forward from the pain of their loss, Krystin and Hansel now have their sights set on spiritual multiplication— discipling men and women and sharing the unshakable joy God can bring, even during hard times. Stronger together, indeed!
