About Unfavorable Odds

Kim Anthony knows something about finding hope in the face of unfavorable odds. Born to teenage parents, Kim grew up in a rough part of town in Richmond VA. At the age of seven, she was taught  how to roll marijuana joints. She remembers believing that having such skills would earn her the love and acceptance she was longing for.

She also remembers watching Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comăneci on TV and thinking to herself “I could do that.”

And she did. At the age of 18, Kim became the first African American to receive a full gymnastics scholarship to UCLA. She would go on to be a four time national gymnastics champion and a six time All-American. She would eventually find her way into the UCLA Hall of Fame.

Since her time as a college athlete, Kim has worked for ESPN and NBC Sports. She and her husband Corwin have served on the staff of Athletes In Action, a part of Cru.

Now with her podcast Unfavorable Odds, Kim introduces us to other men and women who faced trials and challenges in life, and who have learned to find hope, joy and victory by trusting in Jesus and following Him.

Kim’s hope is that with each new episode of Unfavorable Odds, listeners will be encouraged to find their strength in Jesus in the midst of every obstacle they face. As we learn to depend on Him, we find that there is no such thing as genuinely unfavorable odds.
