Weekend to Remember and the Coronavirus
Canceled events include:
- Des Moines
- Little Rock
- Lake Tahoe
- Baton Rouge
- Chicago (Lincolnshire)
- Houston (Woodlands)
At FamilyLife, the health and safety of our guests, staff, and volunteers at our Weekend to Remember events is our highest priority. We want to assure you that as the coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts our world, we are closely monitoring the situation and have been primarily focusing on three specific areas for guidance:
- What the local authorities are saying.
- What the local churches are doing.
- Communication from the local hotel.
The April events will be evaluated as the situation unfolds and we have more information about the location and direction from local officials.
We are doing everything we can to keep all the events on the schedule without compromising the safety of participants. However, this is a fluid situation. We will keep all registered attendees updated as we evaluate each Weekend to Remember city-by-city.
We are currently planning to make the call to cancel, if necessary, a week out from each event. However, we aren’t limiting ourselves to that timeframe. Because the situation is changing daily, there may be times a decision is made 2-4 days prior to an event.
My event is canceled. What are my options?
First and foremost we recognize that those registered for a Weekend to Remember are looking for an immediate marriage investment opportunity. We are taking steps to still make this happen. We are also allowing these attendees to carry over their registration to another event of their choice. However, we know that these solutions won’t work for everyone. In that case, couples can call 1-800-358-6329 and we’ll work to meet their individual needs, even if that’s a refund.
Can I transfer to the same location for next year?
If FamilyLife canceled your event, then we have automatically registered you for next year’s event at the same location.
If you are deciding not to attend an event: Yes! You can transfer your registration to next year’s event. Call 1-800-358-6329 to make that arrangement. If the date for next year’s event is not yet final, we can add you to the list to transfer your registration. As soon as it is official, we will notify you so that you can make arrangements to attend.
Is FamilyLife charging cancellation fees?
If you are asking for a refund because your event was canceled, or you’re canceling your attendance to an event because of the coronavirus, we will waive the $30 cancellation fee.
Will I be able to cancel my hotel reservation without any charges?
You will need to contact the hotel directly to arrange your cancellation. We do know that many major hotels are providing flexibility for this situation.
We look forward to hosting you at a Weekend to Remember. The encouragement, hope, and practical tools you’ll receive will have a lasting impact on your marriage. Please contact us or call 1-800-358-6329 if you have any further questions or concerns.
