Developing a Kingdom Vision

Foundational Principle:

God calls us to Himself so He can use us to help others find Him. God doesn’t ask us to be perfect to be used by Him, only to be willing to be fragile “jars of clay” showcasing to others the “all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” (2 Cor. 4:7)

Scripture to Begin:
Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Learning

Have you ever considered that your passions and gifts are part of God’s plan for your life? In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. What would your daily life look like if you took this commandment to heart? What if you developed a Kingdom Vision?

We define a Kingdom Vision as how your God given gifts and passions, your marriage and family, your relational network, the story God is writing in your life, ALL fit into God’s kingdom plan, which then influences your decisions and choices. This clarity can bring you joy, purpose, and the opportunity to share the gospel with others.

It takes time and effort to understand your gifts and how God wants to use them.

START WITH YOURSELF

Each person, marriage, and family is unique. What passions and gifts do you have? What passions and gifts do those in your family have? How do you see God bringing those together to impact your corner of the world with the gospel?

THEN FOCUS ON YOUR COMMUNITY

God plants Christ-followers in specific places with a mission. How can you live out Jesus’ teachings on the Great Commission and the Great Commandment with those in your community? How might you demonstrate love for God and others so that people hear the good news and are changed?

CONNECTIONS

The people you know shape your perspective and reinforce your Kingdom Vision. Are there people, non-profit causes, churches, or organizations that are already working towards God’s kingdom? What activities could you join?

Reflection

Look at the results from your Five Fold Ministry assessment. How do your gifts fit into God’s plan for His kingdom? How do your story, relationships, and other qualities inform your Kingdom Vision?

Applying What We Learn

Write out a statement of what you think God may be calling you to do. Then write down three things you can do in the next month to make that vision a reality.
