Equipping Your Church
Foundational Principle:
As followers of Jesus, we have the unique opportunity to support churches in their evangelism and discipleship training, mobilizing the body of Christ towards fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.
Scripture to Begin:
Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Learning
Throughout the five principles (Discover, Gather, Entrust, Equip, and Send), we have woven the key element of connecting your ministry to a larger group of people, like a church or a local FamilyLife team. This is crucial if we hope to see God build true movements of families impacting families around the world.
One of the ways we can come alongside the body of Christ is by providing practical ministry training. We want to help everyone discover their unique role in God’s kingdom, gather like-minded believers, equip people for service, and send them out to share with others the transferable principles found in this resource. The Family Ministry Guidebook can be used one-on-one or with groups of any size. We have created a basic outline for how you can share what you’ve learned. This training communicates the core concepts of our ministry and provides space to apply them to your specific situation.
Equipping others with these foundational resources gives our ministry focus and direction while making space for the Holy Spirit to move. Our hope is that this gives you the structure you need to include churches and partners in your ministry while contextualizing it for the specific demographic you’re reaching. Hosting a gathering of this nature can mobilize people in your ministry and provide the opportunity to recruit new disciples.

A marriage enrichment exercise
A time to train people on a skill necessary for serving in your ministry
Praying for an upcoming gathering or other specific needs
Bringing in a subject matter expert in your area of ministry
Reflection
As you think about teaching others what you’ve learned, how do you feel? Why do you think it’s important to share what we’re learning with others? What might stop us from doing this? Who would benefit from this?
Applying What We Learn
Is there a group of people in your church with whom you could do the 1 hour evangelism training? Who leads that group? Make it a point to talk with them about this training and ask if they’d be willing to have you come and train their members.
