Session 6.1

Session 6: Nurturing Identity

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!

Psalm 127:3-5

Gender. Jilted.

How do we respond to our kids’ gender? Does society’s gender fluidity help or harm our kids?

Take Aim Questions

Take some time to journal and process the questions below, they’ll help you apply parenting principles that will set you up for success.

Aside from physical characteristics, what do you want your kids to understand about gender differences?

As a parent, what can you do to affirm your sons’ masculinity and your daughters’ femininity?

In addition to you as parent, who or what else might influence your children’s beliefs about gender identity?

The Need To Know

Call it good.

  •   Affirming our kids’ gender acknowledges God as a good Creator.
  •   Consistently praising and directing kids’ gender dignifies them and the identity God’s wisely, intentionally given.
