Day 9: Somebody Wants Your Marriage to Fail

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
— Ephesians 6:12-13

God has a plan that offers hope to any marriage. When a husband and wife commit their relationship to Him, they’re on the road to a “oneness marriage.”

We’re talking about the kind of relationship that’s intentionally moving toward closeness. Trust. Understanding. And actively working toward a common purpose.

But you have an Enemy actively working against that purpose (and it’s not your spouse!); an Enemy working to divide you. As you build your marriage on biblical principles and toward God, know there is a spiritual battle not only against each of you … but also against your marriage and all it stands for.

How will you arm your marriage for the battle?

Praying together for our marriage

He prays: Ask God to help you grow together in your understanding of His purpose and design for your marriage.

She prays: Acknowledge that the devil is opposed to your marriage and ask God to help you both to “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might” (Ephesians 6:10).
