What I mean is that someone who doesn’t want to date a single parent shouldn’t date a single parent. That sounds obvious but you’d be amazed how many people do so even though they have no intention of taking on the responsibility of a child. I commend this guy for thinking seriously about this. Your values and priorities might lead you to a different conclusion about dating a single parent. But knowing what you want is an important aspect of wise dating that every single person should consider.

Episode Transcript

Ron: “But Ron, I don’t want to date someone who has kids.” Well, good. I don’t want you to either.

Announcer: For FamilyLife Blended®, here’s Ron Deal.

Ron: Now hold on and let me explain myself. What I mean is that someone who doesn’t want to date a single parent shouldn’t date a single parent. I know that sounds obvious but you’d be amazed how many people do so anyway even though they have no intention of taking on the responsibility of a child. Look, we’re not playing games here. We’re talking about people’s lives and the influence we bring to children.

So I commend this guy for thinking seriously about this. Your values and priorities might lead you to a different conclusion about dating a single parent. But knowing what you want is an important aspect of wise dating that every single person should consider. For FamilyLife Blended I’m Ron Deal.
