Ron: Hey Ron, it just occurred to me: I live in a stepfamily, too.

Ron: You know it sounds kind of funny but this realization is not uncommon. The latest came to me from a woman who was born to her married parents, but each of her parents had been married before and brought kids to the marriage. So she lived in a stepfamily. She had half siblings and her parents were stepparents to the other kids. The cool thing is she was in her 40s but once she connected the dots the things we had been talking about helped her make sense of her childhood and her extended family today.

Blended families are very common. Forty percent of married couples with kids are stepfamilies. And one third of Americans like my friend are connected to a blended family. You may be one of them and we’re here to help. For FamilyLife Blended I’m Ron Deal.
