Well, just like stepparents you do have to gauge a child’s openness to you, but yeah, don’t just stand on the sidelines. Get in the game. Invest time and energy and money. Whether they live near or far use technology and social media to get into their world. And if your relationship with one of their parents is strained, focus on the grandchild.
