Announcer: For FamilyLife Blended®, here’s Ron Deal.
Ron: A stepparent’s role will change over time especially when it comes to discipline. So at first, think of yourself as a teacher on the first day of school. You are the adult in charge, but your students don’t really know you that well and they certainly don’t love you. So it’s best to let the principal that is their biological parent, set the expectations and standards of conduct for your classroom. But as the school year progresses you and the students will naturally get to know each other better, and you’ll find your way into their heart.
Good stepparenting is a function of relationship. Keep building yours. For FamilyLife Blended I’m Ron Deal.
