I have written my own story of things that I remember about my life and now I’m preserving the things that I want my grandchildren and great – grandchildren to know about me.
On our honeymoon, the airport security pulled me aside after scanning the luggage…and they found a pie server, which was really long and pointed…looked like a knife. They said, What are you doing with this? Are you sure this doesn’t open? And they kept stickin’ it in my face! And I said, No, I said, it’s just a souvenir!
We asked this woman what it means to fear God… I think it’s a reverent fear like we have for our parents, that if we don’t obey Him, He has the power and the authority to…put our souls in Hell. So I fear Hell. I fear His authority to put me there if I don’t obey.
“Waking up late causes me stress.” “Something that causes me stress is indecision.”
When I was young, Monday was my favorite day, because my dad’s day off was on Monday. So he would let me go along with him and do all the errands, and my dad spent time with me.
What comes to my mind when you say isolation – when two people are married, but they don’t talk, and they’re just barely friends. You go on a date, and you talk about the mortgage.
The temptation that the enemy throws in my way is just the thought of, “Hey, I’ve worked hard all day. I deserve some time to veg out and spend time alone and not engaging with my family.”
Gotta be the great dad, a good listener to your wife, cut the grass, lead family devotions, win at work, serve at church…it’s kind of exhausting. I get tired just thinking about it. Maybe I have low T!
Now I realize this is an unfair question, but it’s for every dad. Do you work harder at home or on the job?
How far is your teenager willing to go with the opposite sex prior to marriage?
As parents, it’s not enough to teach character. We must also model character.
When I left home for college, I learned the power of some important words.
Even when they’re very different, brothers and sisters can learn to become friends.
