Attend both Blended and
Blessed and the D6 conference
back to back.

Join lay couples, ministers, and authors including Greg Smalley of Focus on the Family, Stephen Arterburn of New Life Ministries, Gil and Brenda Stuart of RestoredandRemarried.com, Laura Petherbridge of TheSmartStepmom.com, Todd & Tammy Gangl of Stepfamily411.com, Gordon and Carri Taylor of Designing Dynamic Stepfamilies, and Ron Deal of FamilyLife for this first-time event.

The goal of this Summit is to advance the cause of stepfamily ministry so that thousands of local churches become redemption centers for blended families. This is not a marketing event or a workshop to passively attend. This is a conversation among stakeholders.  We expect a small number of participants; each attendee will contribute to small group and large group dialogue and the development of a list of best practices.  Come join the conversation.

Why Should You Participate?

  • To network with those invested in blended family ministry
  • To discuss how to raise national awareness about the need for stepfamily ministry.
  • To discuss dilemmas facing the advancement of stepfamily ministry both culturally and within the local church.
  • To identify best practices that can be replicated in small and large churches and to identify cultural distinctions that will impact ministry in ethnically and economically diverse families.
  • To ask and answer: What are next steps for blended family ministry in terms of research, marketing, and identity building?

Why The Need?

In America today 40% of families with children are stepfamilies1 and at least one-third of all weddings give birth to a blended family. Despite these realities, the church is ill-equipped and slow to move forward with practical ministry. The assumption that traditional marriage ministries are sufficient to strengthen stepcouples has proven untrue. We know from research that traditional marriage ministries only address roughly half of the challenges that stepcouples face and, therefore, are insufficient to prevent redivorce or stabilize the developing stepfamily system. This first ever Summit endeavors to bring together those engaged in stepfamily ministry in order to learn from one another and strengthen our impact in the world.
