Day 12: Got Your Back
There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
— Proverbs 18:24
One of the most important forms of marital glue: friendship. But not just the kind of friend who’s an acceptable roommate or the kind you’d wave at in the grocery store. Think about the kind of intimate friend with whom you’re completely yourself, while completely accepted, understood, and even fiercely advocated for.
It’s this kind of vulnerable, transparent friendship—“naked and unashamed” (Genesis 2:25)—where you know your secrets will be protected. Where you horse around, laugh, and weep together.
But this kind of friendship doesn’t just happen. When you’re not intentional about developing friendship, it’s too easy to drift apart—leaving room for indifference, isolation, even infidelity.
How will you feed your friendship?
