I think stepparents should get a gold medal.
Announcer: For FamilyLife Blended®, here’s Ron Deal.
Ron: A man once told me that it took 30 years before he could tell his stepfather he loved him. Thirty years. Now I’m sure his stepfather struggled through those years longing for acceptance, but despite his efforts his stepson just couldn’t say, “I love you.”
Now I know that is an extreme circumstance. Thankfully not all stepparents have to wait that long, but it is fairly common for them to have all the responsibilities of parenthood long before receiving the rewards. That’s why they should receive a gold medal or at least a hug and a thank you from somebody. Somebody like you. For FamilyLife Blended I’m Ron Deal.
