Ron: Thinking out loud is simply sharing with kids how you came to a certain decision. Let’s say you just decided not to buy something for yourself, because you felt it was more Kingdom-minded to use the money for a good cause. The next time you’re in the car, think out loud. “Hey buddy, we decided not to buy that big screen television. We decided to use the money for a service project instead. I just think this honors God and buying another thing for us really doesn’t.”
You see, thinking out loud shapes the faith of your children by showing them how life and faith connect. And, there’s a bonus. When stepparents think out loud, your kids see your heart and they grow to trust it. Hey, you’re in the car right now—start thinking out loud.
