Ron: So, do you live in a state of “continuous partial attention”?

Announcer: For FamilyLife Blended®, here’s Ron Deal.

Ron: You know how secondhand smoke is harmful to those around you? Well, parent educator Joshua Straub suggests that being continually distracted by our devices creates a secondhand screen impact on our children. We allow our play, talk, and attention time with our kids to be interrupted—and they suffer for it. The brains of babies might even be wired to expect interruption by this repeated process. So, Dr. Straub suggests that you designate certain times to look at your screen instead of your child, and compartmentalize time where no phones are allowed—yours or theirs.

Look, aren’t your kids worth your full and undivided attention? For FamilyLife Blended I’m Ron Deal.
