Ron: Many single parents and blended families have summer visitation schedules to prepare for. No matter whether you’re the kid or the adult, or whether you have children coming or going or both, there is bound to be some strong emotions on the horizon. Children, of every age, can be excited to spend extra time in a nonresidential parent’s house, and at the same time be sad about leaving a parent or siblings behind. Teenagers may feel like this is messing up their social life and adults can be happy or sad depending on how the schedule impacts their home.

Whatever the range of emotions, it’s important to celebrate or comfort one another. Oh, and find a good attitude about the summer schedule. It may not be exactly what you want, but you can make it work.
