Episode Transcript

Bob:  I’m seeing this just like you are. There are a lot of men today who are hungry for someone to step in and say, “Here’s what a man is and here’s what a man does,” and they don’t want it to be some kind of a macho expression that’s all defined around, “He hunts and he climbs mountains and he wrestles with bears,” and all this kind of thing. Instead, they want to know what a man is in his soul, in his core, in his being.

Dennis:  Yes; I think they want to know what the character looks like, and they don’t want to be tied to certain sports or certain activities. They want to know, in his chest, how does a man think, believe, and behave, and then pass that real manhood treasure on to the next generation of younger men.

21:00

Bob:  When we created the video series from the book Stepping Up, we actually did it in two different ways: we created a ten-week series for guys to go through, but we also created a video event where a men’s group could take a Saturday or a weekend and they could go through this video series over the course of that weekend and have an opportunity, just guys getting away together and being able to process, “What does it mean to be a godly man?”

I just recently did this with guys from our church. We went out to a retreat center Friday night, Saturday. We only had time to go through a couple of the videos from the event kit, but we’re planning to follow up and finish up at a later event.

22:00

I mention that because summertime’s a great time for guys to plan a getaway like that, whether it’s the men’s group at church or whether it’s just a group of guys, maybe fathers and sons getting off together. If you’d like to get the event kit free, we will ship it to you free as long as you order at least ten study guides to go through this with at least ten people.

So order the ten study guides, you get the video event kit free. You can go to FamilyLifeToday.com for more information, or you can call 1-800-“F” as in family, “L” as in life, and then the word “TODAY” if you have any questions about the special offer that is available here during the month of June. Get the video event kit free for Stepping Up when you order at least ten manuals so you can take at least ten guys through the material this summer.

Again, order online at FamilyLifeToday.com, or call 1-800-“F” as in family, “L” as in life, and then the word “TODAY”.

Now, we want to say congratulations today to a couple who live in Elkridge, Maryland and who are celebrating 15 years of marriage together today.

Jerome and Alana Woods, happy anniversary to the Woods.

We are big on anniversaries here at FamilyLife. We think they’re a big deal, we think your anniversary matters, and we are spending this year, which is an anniversary year for us here at FamilyLife, 40 years of ministry, we’re spending the year by reflecting on how many couples have been impacted because of how God has used FamilyLife—our resources, our broadcast, our website, our events—to help strengthen and equip husbands and wives, moms and dads.

We’re pretty excited about that, and we’re grateful for those of you who partner with us to make sure that it all happens. We are a non-profit organization; we depend on your donations in order for this ministry to exist. If you’ve made a donation recently, thank you.

24:00

If it’s been awhile, or maybe you’ve never made a donation, go to FamilyLifeToday.com right now, make your donation online, or call 1-800-FLTODAY, make a donation over the phone. You can also mail your donation to FamilyLife Today at Box 7111, Little Rock, Arkansas. Our zip code is 72223.

Now, tomorrow, Crawford Loritts is going to paint a picture for us of what godly masculinity looks like. I hope you can join us back for that.

I want to thank our engineer today, Keith Lynch, and our entire broadcast production team. On behalf of our host, Dennis Rainey, I’m Bob Lepine. We will see you back next time for another edition of FamilyLife Today.

FamilyLife Today is a production of FamilyLife of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Help for today. Hope for tomorrow.
